Performance counter registry hive consistency when installing SQL 2008 R2 on Windows Small Business Server 2008

Error when trying to install SQL 2008 R2 server on an SBS 2008 server with dutch language.

 Problem

When trying to install the SQL 2008 R2 server on an SBS server with dutch language we encountered an error.

 Solution

Yesterday we tried to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 onto a brand new Windows Small Business Server 2008, Dutch language. The precheck failed on 'Performance counter registry hive consistency'. The solution should be available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956, but that didn't help.

We found out, that the Dutch performance library registry key (013) was empty, causing this errormessage. The solution was to export the English performance library registry key (009), change it to 013 manually and then import it into the 013-registry
